Smile

While me and my friends were hanging out in the pool, we decided we wanted to watch a horror movie. So, we decided to watch the movie Smile. We knew it was a popular horror movie, and it came out quite recently so we wanted to watch it. Normally it is kinda hard to get me really scared but this movie definitely succeded in giving me nightmares for the past week. The jump scares and creepy parts were amazing, and I love the storyline and lore behind the whole thing.
Our main character, Rose, was a type of doctor that dealt with mental disorders. She dealt with some trauma in her life because her abusive mom died of an overdose right in front of her eyes, and her older sister left her behind to fend for herself.
For her it was a typical day at work, dealing with another patient. Once she walked into the room, she saw her patient in the corner, looking scared. She sat the patient down to have a talk with them, but then the patient started describing something coming after them. Then the patient started to scream, cry, and fall on the floor, looking like they were trying to get away from something. Rose went to the emergency phone that was in the room in order to call for help, though once she turned around, her patient was standing right behind her, with a smile on her face that was nowhere near natural. The patient had a shard of glass in her hand and cut around her face with it, and then died.
Rose, shaken by the events stayed at home a bit from work. Though, she started to feel something was off. She started to see things, and events that would happen, and she then realized that whatever was after her patient that died was the thing that was not after her.
She decided to do some digging into it and realized that whatever dark entity was coming after she has killed multiple people, all in the same way. Whoever was possessed by this evil being would commit suicide in front of someone else and pass it over to them, though she found that there was once a break in the pattern. A man with this evil spirit decided to kill someone, and whatever the thing was that was causing all of this was passed over to the eyewitness of the murder. Rose learned that this thing that was the cause of multiple people's death was becoming stronger through the trauma of others.
Though, Rose did not have the heart to kill anybody, so she ended up suffering alone as she felt that her whole world was shattering around her. She was going mentally, insane, and she could barely deal with the fact that she was miserable. She wanted to get out of it and tried hard to do so, but sadly at the end of the movie, she ends up committing suicide in front of her ex-boyfriend.
There is going to be a second movie dealing with this boyfriend's story of going through a rabbit hole of trauma, hurt, and death, and I'm so beyond excited to watch it!
