The Girl Who Drank the Moon

 

    The girl who drank the moon is, so far, an excellent book! I only read about 3 chapters but I think it will be a great book. 
    There is a town in between a treacherous forest and a bog. The forest is perilous, so dangerous that no one dares to go in it, except on one occasion that happens once every year.  
   People in the town have a poor life, only being able to get resources from the bog. All people except the Council Grand Elders. They own everything in the town, the bog, the houses, and a small road that leads into the mysterious forest. 
    The forest is perilous on its own, containing many wild animals and poisonous plants. But the reason why many people fear the forest is because of the witch that lives in the woos. Apparently, she's the one who turned the forest into such an awful place. But everyone is scared of her, no one disobeyed her requests. Obviously, no one has ever seen her of course but according to the Grand Elders, every year she wants a child. That child has to be the yo0ungest amongst them all. And if they don't give up anyone as a sacrifice, horrible things will come upon the people. 
    That's why every year, people take the smallest child of them all and line up in the path of the forest the Grand Elders own. They place the baby down in the middle of six trees known as the Witch's Maidens. Then they just leave them there. Knowing full well there is no witch, that they are just leaving a poor child to die.
    No one fought for the child of course. Many people were still under the enchantment the Grand Elders set on them, believing that there really is a witch. Others were just too scared, that if they rebelled something horrible would happen to them from the Grand Elders. 
   One day though, someone did fight for the child. A mother, who has newly given birth. She didn't want to give up her child, she fought and fought but in the end, she was locked away in the tower, and the baby was left in the forest to die.
    Little did the Grand Elders know, there really was a witch in the forest. A witch a dragon, and magical creatures. Little did they know that the baby was raised by the witch. Little did they know that the baby was very special.
